laughing kookaburra is Australia's most famous bird. It is found in all of
the state capitals except Darwin (where the blue-winged kookaburra is resident)
and is likely to be seen and heard by anyone visiting Australia. The distinctive
chuckling laugh is usually a territorial call but is also heard from excited
juveniles upon the return of a parent with food.
