Tasmanian Devil, Sarcophilus Harissi
The Tasmanian Devil is widely regarded as ferocious. However, in reality this is not the case. They will shy away from human contact and prefer to take carrion over any other food. They are know to take injured or young stock but a field full of healthy adult sheep, for example, will be left alone.
They are the true animal symbol of Tasmania and the Tasmanian wilderness that attracts so many tourists.
