KOA1 - Koala

Koala, Phascolarctos Cinereus.

Koalas will only be seen on the ground when they are moving between trees. On the ground they are risking attack from predators such as dingoes and eagles. However, come the mating season, the male koala is forced to spend much more time out of the trees in order to check on the availability of females.

This was the case with this male, photographed in the west of Kangaroo Island.
